Traditional Yoga Berlin – What do we do in the course?
The „Deutsche Akademie für traditionelles Yoga“ has been teaching this very special traditional yoga course for over 10 years in Berlin. Every year in autumn, we open new continuous yoga courses in Berlin-Mitte, with weekly new curriculum which exceeds by now more than 20 years.
The course starts with the basics in order for everyone, regardless their previous experiences or knowledge, to have an very easy access into the broad field of the millennial old yoga tradition and covers a big variety of yoga forms in depth.
Spirituality is made tangible to the course participant through shared yoga practice and theory lessons (written course material is given out each week). It is very important to us that after some time the yoga course participant can tailor his Hatha Yoga practice to his individual needs. In addition, traditional purification techniques from the yoga and ayurvedic system and yogic nutritional practices are part of theoretical instruction.
Traditional Yoga Berlin – What am I learning in the course?
The traditional yoga course starts with simple Hatha Yoga (Asana-s) exercises and becomes more complex and challenging over time to adapt to the increasing level of course participants. At the end of the first year there is the inauguration in the Laya Yoga technique. In the following years, among other things, pranayama techniques, Maha Vidya Yoga and Swara Yoga are part of the educational program.
Since a certain amount of yoga preparation is necessary, the entry into the yoga course is only possible in the first year. At the end of the first year of yoga the open yoga course closes for new participants and lessons are extended from two to three hours per week.
What is Hatha Yoga?
The goal of Hatha Yoga is the gradual harmonization of the being through the activation of the seven centers of energy (chakras). These are gradually activated, energized and harmonized through specific Hatha Yoga exercises (Asana-s). Hatha Yoga describes the balance between Ha (+) and tha (-) in our being. It is the union of opposites. Above all, yoga is a state in which the individual unites with the universal, in which the unity of microcosm and macrocosm is experienced.
Hatha yoga is also one of the easiest ways to keep your body healthy and solve everyday problems such as to cure back pain, nervousness, stress and even frigidity.
How do spirituality and yoga interact in the Traditional Yoga Course in Berlin-Mitte?
Hatha Yoga is one of the oldest spiritual paths and is a branch of Tantra Yoga. A continuous practice of yoga helps one to cleanse his being and to open it to the ultimate realization of the divine. Yoga comes from the word „yoke“and stands for the restraint of lower tendencies in the human being. By this restraint, lower tendencies can be transformed into higher states of consciousness and energies are released.
A regular yoga practice helps the aspirant to more vitality, zest for life, willpower, self-esteem and generosity, inspiration, concentration and ultimately to the complete purification and harmonization of the whole being.
