The origins of Tarot, a mysterious game, are lost somewhere in the dark times of the Middle Age. There are many studying hypotheses regarding its origin. We can think about it as the work of a middle age initiating group who crystallized a collective spiritual memory and illustrated it into ancient symbols. Using no words, but only pictures, allowed them to protect their message and to transmit its legacy to posterity. Its name can be related to many others, like: Orat (to pray) giving it the meaning of a praying book; Rota (the wheel), giving an image of a cyclic life, on both individual and universal level; Tao(r), the way of Tao, the “middle path” of the chinese wisdom; Tora(h), the old book of jewish laws.

We will first of all link the Tarot with a fundamental spiritual concept, namely “the wheel of energies”. We find this knowledge by this name, or a similar one, in all authentic spiritual traditions, reflected in the system of tattva-s, the 12 kali-s, the wheel of becoming, the circuit of Chi, the 12 zodiacal signs etc. Each and all of us is permanently nourished, sustained, kept alive by such a wheel of energies. From this perspective Tarot is a resume of the entire universe. Being build from a serial of symbolic figures, using a profound symbolism, tangent to that of initiatic art, each Tarot card represents a meditation support, illustrating an essential hypostasis of both the micro and the macrocosmic game.

We will study this divinatory and initiating system from the perspective of the occidental spirituality (Alchemy) as well as the oriental one (Tantra, Shivaism, i-Ching), aiming to unify such perspectives, transforming Tarot in a beautiful working tool.

Die Ursprünge des geheimnisvollen Tarot Spiels sind vermutlich in der dunklen Zeit des Mittelalters verloren gegangen. Eine der vielen Ursprungshypothesen führt zu einer Gruppe initiierter Personen, die das kollektive spirituelle Gedächtnis der damaligen Zeit unter der Verwendung von antiken Symbolen auf Karten kristallisiert haben. Ohne die Verwendung von Worten, sondern nur mit Bildern, war es ihnen möglich ihre Mysterien zu schützen und trotzdem ihr Vermächtnis der Nachwelt zu überliefern.

Der Begriff Tarot kann mit vielen anderen in Verbindung gebracht werden, so bspw.: ‚Orat‘ (beten), mit dem wir uns einer Bedeutung eines Gebetsbuches annähern; ‚Rota‘ (das Rad), zur Bedeutung der Darstellung eines in Zyklen ablaufenden Lebens, sowohl auf der persönlichen als auch auf der universellen Ebene; mit ‚Tao(r)‘, dem Weg des Tao oder dem ‚Weg der Mitte‘ der chinesischen Weisheitstradition; oder auch mit ‚Tora(h)‘, dem antiken Buch der jüdischen Gesetze.

In diesem Seminar werden wir die Verbindung des Tarots mit dem grundlegenden spirituellen Konzept „dem Rad der Energien“ aufzeigen. Das Konzept, ist unter diesem oder ähnlichen Namen in vielen authentischen spirituellen Traditionen zu finden, bspw. in dem Tattva System, den 12 Kali-s, dem Bhavachakra (dem Rad des Werdens), dem Kreis des Chi, den 12 Sternzeichen usw. So werden wir alle permanent von einem solchen Rad der Energien genährt, unterstützt und am Leben gehalten. Aus dieser Perspektive betrachtet, beschreibt das Tarot uns eine Synthese des gesamten Universums. Es besteht aus einer Abfolge symbolischer Figuren und ähnelt durch die Verwendung seines tiefgründigen Symbolismus, anderen einweihenden Künsten. Jede Karte des Spiels repräsentiert die Meditationsgrundlage für eine der essentiellen Hypostasen des mikro- und des makrokosmischen Spiels.

Während des Seminars werden wir dieses divinatorische und initiierende System, sowohl aus der Perspektive der Spiritualität des Westens (z. B. der Alchemie), als auch aus der Sicht der Ostens (Tantra, Shivaismus, I-Ging) betrachten.
